RE: Maine

Planning next vacation in June 09. Will be going to Boston and on to Maine. We do not know much about this state and need help. What are the must see sites and CG recommendations. We will be in Maine appx 3 days but could stay longer if needed. If you visit Acadia NP I would suggest that you stay on the quiet side of the island in Southwest Harbor. Quiet, very little traffic, great hiking and close to the water. Two excellent campgrounds:Sewall part of NP and Smugglers Den which is private. You will not be disappointed at either facility. Enjoy, beautiful country.

RE: Boston City Tour / Campground

Heading to New England this fall and wondered if anyone can recommend a City Tour for Boston. Planning on staying outside of the city and wanted to let someone else deal with the traffic and show us around. Campground recommendations also desired. Looking for someplace to use as base for touring Boston and the area south, before heading north. I 2nd IBrandt, Minuteman is an excellent choice. The Nussdorfer Family runs an outstanding campground. You will not be disappointed. Tell them Coach K sent you. Great seafood in Boston. Enjoy

RE: BEWARE !! CAMPING WORLD ADS

there is a charge for shop towels and $65.00 shipping on the baseplate.
The charge for shop towels is standard in almost every automotive repair facility. A small percentage of the total repair cost is added for shop supplies and often another for disposal fees. That is a legitimate charge and would not be a part of the advertised price, just like sales tax is added. Now the shipping charges for the base plate is not a fair charge. If it was in stock, then no shipping charges would have been added to the advertised price, and all stock items had to be shipped to the store at some point. Ihave been camping for over 20 yrs and have never ever been charged for towel fees/shop supplies or disposal fee. Those items are all part of doing business. Check before hand and request an out the door price and get it in writing.

RE: RV batteries. What's good?

According to a camping friend who works on RV's do not buy Interstate Deep Cycle Batteries; just about anything else is better. I would like to suggest that your friend do more research on the Interstate Battery line. I have used the same Interstate batteries for the past 8 years and have put 40,000 miles, driving xcountry Az./Mass. and have not had a problem of any sort. That should speak for itself. I am sure that there are many more users who have had the same experience.

RE: Bar Harbor Maine

I would camp on the quiet side of the island in Southwest Harbor. Less people, less traffic and two very nice campgrounds, Smugglers Den and Sewall. Smugglers, you can buy lobsters and cook at you campsite. There are busses that take you to Bar Harbor and bring you home. Parking in Bar Harbor can be very frustrating at best. The hiking and views near the campground are very nice and you will enjoy the area. I lived here for two years and fell in love with people. You will not be disappointed.Enjoy

RE: replacement tire recommendations

LRE is an excellent choice.I would strongley recommend Michelin XPS Rib tire you will find it difficult to find a more reliable product. Check Costco for price, and they have an excellent warranty and will rotate tires at no charge.I would also recommend the brass valve stems available at Borg Tire Supply. It will take you 3 minutes to check all 6 tires and you will not have to worry about leaks. You will not be disappointed with these choices Good luck.

RE: Valve Stem Issues

Call the people at Borg Tire Supply and they will be happy to recommend what type of valve stem you should use for your vehicle. Before you call them get on their web to see their different products. Do not use any valve extensions !!! Use steel valve stems, the same that trucks use and that should help solve your problems for good.Borg will help you . Good luck.

RE: Did I just waste $500.00 on new plugs?

Ford recommends that plugs do not need to be replaced until 100,000 miles. I would check with Ford for the correct torque, and return the RV to the service station that did your work and tell them of your conversation with Ford and request that they correct the torque on the plugs. Good luck.

RE: Massachusetts CGs

I would strongly recommend Minuteman Campground which is located in Littleton, Mass.not Boston. Excellent facilities with great sites and as someone else has mentioned it has been owned by the same family for many years, they also own 2 other camgrounds on Cape Cod.You will not be disappointed and the kids will have a great time. Also you are not that far from Boston and there is alot to see and enjoy in surrounding communities to the campground. Good luck.

RE: Gold Beach, Oregon Campgrounds?

Just up the road in Port Oroford is Arizona Beach Campground. We have stayed there 3 times each time we have had a spot as close to the beach as you can get without being in the water. That was 3 years ago. The people who owned it were trying to sell it so I do not know the status at the present time. It was an excellent place to camp at that time. Check Camp Ground reviews to see what the present status is. Good luck.
I stopped by there recently--
Still for sale-- Motel and Camping is open-- didn't look as though the store was though--
BTW-- Arizona beach is several miles south of Port Orford--The address for Arizona Beach Campground is Port Oroford !!! Check the Web Site.

Base campground for most of the New England States I would recommend Minuteman Campground in Littleton, Mass.IMO it is outstanding and the staff and owners are first class. I will let there reviews speak for themselves.Their web site will update you on their facilities that you will find hard to beat. You will not be disappointed. The Duck Boat rides in Boston is a must trip and Fanueil Hall area has several seafood restaurants that you will really enjoy. Have a great trip.
